Personal details
I was born in Athens on the 13th of November 1976.
I studied physics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Greece, where I got my MSc and my PhD.
I moved to CERN in 2003, working for the offline group of ALICE
- Before joining ALICE, I was a member of NA49 (still member) and NA61 @ the SPS (CERN).
- I became a Marie Curie fellow at CERN in 2005 and then a postdoctoral researcher at Nikhef and Utrecht University in 2007.
I am a physics professor at the University of Maastricht
Since 2010 I am a Senior Scientist at Nikhef in Amsterdam
- Together with my group at Nikhef we are members of the ALICE Collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.
- Since 2020 I'm the deputy team leader at Nikhef in Amsterdam.
- I used to be a guest Professor at the Institute of Graviational and Subatomic Physics - GRASP) at Utrecht University, at the University of Amsterdam and at TU Delft in the Netherlands.

- I moved to the Netherlands in July 2011, and I live in Almere since then.
- I’m a father of three children all born in Geneva (Switzerland):
- Ilias and Thania, both born on the 5th of February 2009 at the Clinique de Grangettes
- Korina, born on the 2nd of December 2010 at the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève
